HC – Jr High – Saturday – Live it

Harvey Cedars summer camp is over. God’s work is not! It continues at home. Parents, we are passing the primary role of discipleship back to you. Continue to inspire the work God that began this week. For ideas on how to “disciple your teenager to passionately love God” as they return home click here.

In our final session, titled “Live it”, Darrel challenged our students to live the secret of God’s Kingdom and share the secret of God with others. The secret of God’s Kingdom gives life. To experience the fullness of life as God designed it, we must embrace Jesus’ life as our own and share His life with others.

HC – Jr High – Friday – Share the Secret

After five action packed days, late nights, and spiritual challenge, we are exhausted. Very exhausted! But we are excited for what God has done to change our lives and grow our relationships.

Tonight’s session opened with this video, as a link from last night’s message.

Darrell then challenged our students to prevent spiritual complacency by sharing the secret of God with others. To help introduce this idea, he showed the below video.

Before our students’ return home, where their parents pick up the primary role of discipleship, our small group leaders are working hard, with God, to seal what Jesus has done in their students’ throughout the week.

For all the parents who are reading this blog, we want to thank you for entrusting us with your son or daughter at Harvey Cedars, for the purpose of seeing God change their lives. This week has been a blessing and a privilege.

HC – Jr High – Thursday – I Love You

Our students are having the time of their lives at Harvey Cedars. In the last two days, approximately 20 students and leaders have gone parasailing. Those that went today received a 30 minute, complementary, banana boat ride.

This evening, our session was held outside in the main courtyard with the sun setting behind us. Darrell spoke about Jesus love for us. He made it clear that each of us has a choice to make in how we respond when Jesus looks us in the eyes and says, “I love you.” Will we blow Him off? Or, will we respond with a life of obedience and words that reply, “I love you too.” At the end of the message, Darrell provided the opportunity for students to respond to the love of Jesus by leading them in a prayer to receive Jesus’ love.

HC – Jr High – Wednesday – Repent

Apart from the great activities that are a regular part of Harvey Cedars. Our students went ocean kayaking, parasailing, and jet skiing today.

While the group of students and leaders, who went jet skiing, were standing in line to pay, another customer asked one of our leaders, “Are you guys with a youth group?” The leader responded, “Yes. Why?” Then the lady said the coolest thing. “I could definitely tell that you guys are Christians. You’re all really kind and compassionate.” Now that is freakin’ awesome. I love it when other peopleDave and Zack can see the attributes of Jesus in His disciples.Sarah

Tonight in our evening session, we discovered that like Jesus’ disciples, we all have the choice to follow or reject Jesus. By the end of the night, Darrell challenged every leader and student to repent of their sin and follow Jesus. During the message, Darrell showed the below videos to illustrate our choice to follow or reject Jesus. When we chose to follow Jesus and repent, our sins fade in the light of Christ.

What will your life be like 20 years from now?

HC – Jr High – Tuesday – The Truth

Another action packed day at camp! This video and the following slide show capture some of what our students are experiencing at Harvey Cedars.

Our evening session tonight revealed the truth of Jesus Christ. Those who know “The Secret” know that Jesus can do what we can’t do. They know that He is more than a man. He is God. Jesus is God! You can list to Darrell’s message titled “HC Jr high The Truth” but clicking the RRS feed or the podcast button the on the side bar.

Be praying for our students and leaders to continue having an awesome week of fun and spiritual formation.

HC – Jr High – Monday – God’s Story

After long bus rides, almost 400 junior high students and leaders settled in at Harvey Cedars today, caught some great waves at the beach, started getting to know new friends, and settled into their rooms.

Our theme this week is “The Secret”. Throughout the week, our speaker will be revealing Jesus secrets of His Kingdom to our students.

Tonight Brant Lingle and band did an amazing job launching the week in worship, followed by the below video which got a strong round of applause from our students. But why wouldn’t it? The video captures 2 scenes of God’s story on film. After the video, Darrel Pearson gave a powerful talk on how our lives are part of God’s story. He reminded us that our lives aren’t about us; they are about God and His story, but we have a role to play in God’s story. You can listen to Darryl’s message by clicking the podcast button on the sidebar or by clicking the RRS Feed. The message title is “HC Jr high God’s Story”.

We are looking for God do bring amazing life-change in our lives as we continue through this week.

Harvey Cedars – Saturday – Don’t Keep the Secret

It’s hard to believe that the week is already over. Our leaders did an amazing job loving and leading our students throughout the week.

This morning, Shelton’s message challenged our students tell the secret message of God to others. The session was opened with this video.

Harvey Cedars – Friday – God’s Message

Tonight we took a huge risk. For 4 nights now, our students students have discovered the secrets of God through Shelton’s message. Tonight, we decided to have God be the speaker – literally. As the students, came into the evening session, they each recieved a journal and pen. After our video opening (view below), Shelton explained how to listen to the voice of God. Then our students where given 15 minutes to silently listen to God voice and write in their new journal the message/s God gave them. This was great moment of God speaking directly to our students hearts and minds.

You may want to take a moment and listen to what Shelton didn’t say so that God could say it.

Harvey Cedars – Thursday – Live God’s Purpose

Last nights’ message on repentance was followed up tonight by focusing on how we are to live. When we repent of sin, we must live for something new – the pursuit of God and His purpose.

Tonight, seven students came to a place in their spiritual journey where they are now choosing to live for God and His purpose. Consider listening to the message that God used to bring these students into relationship with Himself. Also, check out the video that Shelton used in the middle of his message.
